Malachia… Di sicuro ha il libro.
Malachia… He certainly has the book.
Se l’autore dei delitti non è lui,
If he is not the author of the crimes,
potrebbe non conoscerne i pericoli…
he might not know its dangers…
(Durante il canto, rientra Malachia e si siede al suo posto accanto a Jorge. Monaci veglianti verificano che nessuno dorma: scosso da uno di questi, Malachia cade al suolo)
(During the chant, Malachia returns and sits in his place beside Jorge. Vigilant monks verify that no one is sleeping: shaken by one of them, Malachia falls to the floor.)

(Malachia tenta di rispondere ma, sconvolto da un gran tremito, muore)

(vedendo Gui dietro l’Abate)

chi ha ucciso costui

se avete preso gli assassini?

(Si sente singhiozzare: è Jorge)
